In 2017, a group of Arkansas cities and towns sued major opioid manufacturers and distributors. The Arkansas Municipal League filed the federal lawsuit. They alleged the companies caused a public health crisis. The companies used deceptive marketing and aggressively promoted addictive painkillers.
