BIO

Biography

Brent L. Moss has dedicated over 25 years to the practice of law and is a partner at Marks Balette Young & Moss, PLLC (“Marks firm”)  in Houston, Texas. He focuses his practice on representing individuals and families in a wide range of catastrophic injury cases, including nursing home abuse and neglect, assisted living abuse and neglect, medical malpractice, premises liability, tractor-trailer accidents, and wrongful death.

His experience is uniquely informed by his prior work representing white-collar criminals, physicians, hospitals, and nursing homes, giving him valuable insight into the complexities of these cases. Mr. Moss maintains a national practice and has tried cases in numerous states.

Mr. Moss began his career after law school with the Prosecutor’s Office in Little Rock, Arkansas. He then joined a Mid-South law firm, where he defended white-collar criminal matters and represented physicians, hospitals, and nursing homes. He was subsequently recruited by Beverly Enterprises, Inc. to serve as Senior Litigation Counsel, where he defended, coordinated, and managed patient liability, premises liability, and commercial liability cases nationwide. Before returning to private practice, Mr. Moss served as Senior Medicaid Fraud Counsel in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office, prosecuting nursing homes for deceptive trade practices against elderly residents and the State of Arkansas. He also worked for the McNulty Law Firm in Bel Air, California, representing seriously injured individuals in cases involving birth defects, physician negligence, nursing home abuse and neglect, product liability, and premises liability. For 13 years prior to joining the Marks firm, he devoted his practice to areas concentrated on nursing home, motor vehicle accident, product liability, tractor-trailer negligence, physician negligence, medical malpractice, and assisted living negligence cases.

Mr. Moss has achieved numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients across the country. Notably, he secured what are believed to be the largest nursing home abuse and neglect jury verdicts in the history of Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado, in 2014 and 2016.

He has fought tirelessly for improved elder care, including testifying as an expert before the California Senate and Subcommittee on Aging and Long Term Care to drive meaningful change in the system.
